Friend For Sale
I have decided to walk around with a 'Friend for Sale' sign. Why?
Well, all the stores are having good sales, plus 30% off with a Friends and Family coupon.
I am especially interested in the Gap coupon. I even asked the lady at the counter how I could get one, and she said 'its for Friends and Family only'.
So, since I cannot become a family member, I can become a Friend atleast, right?

Anyone of you know anyone who knows someone who knows someone else who works there? :)

Hmm...maybe have a sign with a deal on it.

    Such as:

'Friend for Sale - Join Now and get 6 weekends dinner out.'

'Special Friend deal - Apply now and cry your heart out on my shoulders for 2 weeks'

'Need a friend? No one's available? talk to me - I am listening'

    Or a simple

    'Will be friend for coupons'

    Those might work :)

Is it Christmas already????
I walk into my local Starbucks for my morning Java, and it suddenly felt like December! They had Christmas music playing, handing out Peppermint Latte samples and Christmas decorations everywhere!
Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas Season. This time of the year is my favorite. But, it seems like every year, the Christmas decorations go up early. When I was shopping for Halloween candy, they had Christmas trees up!!!!
There is something called getting prepared, but this early?????? Seriously. Let's wait until Thanksgiving atleast.
And you know what else, as soon as Christmas is gone, they will be putting up those annoying pink hearts everywhere!!!

    LOL @ Rdi.

Pdi - I love this time of the year. I love the early signs of Christmas. It tells me the holidays are near. It serves as a reminder to get that shopping list taken care of. It lines up your activities to list out people, shop malls, look at wishlists. I always look forward to the Starbucks red cups during Christmas, and the Gingerbread lattes, pumpkin spice lattes, etc. It just creates such a warm Christmas feeling. I love that. It's simply the best feeling ever.

    :)

Oye, I am not being cynical at all! Just saying that the holdiays have become soooo commercialised. I love Xmas time. Starting from October onwards, I love this time year. Halloween, then Thanksgiving (btw, Anniversary falls around Thanksgiving too), XMAS, and then New Years. Its all good.
All I am saying is that businesses are using the holidays as ways to make more money. Which is their job, me just complaining, thats all. Get it? ;)

Need a new job?
While discussing job conditions with a colleague, we started talking about the current websites out there for jobs, like monster.com, hotjobs.com, carerrbuilder.com....etc...etc....
And then we came up with some new ideas, like:

takemyjob.com
takemyjobandshoveit.com
doicare.com
justpayme.com

But, think about it, wouldn't it be nice to do a job swap with someone else? That way there is no burnout, no getting bored. And you are always guaranteed a job :)
Hmmmm....something to ponder about....

Who is the fool?
Ok, taking Paresh's advice and putting my thoughts here, makes it a blog post :)

So, at work, my area of expertise is now taken over by someone else. Not assigned to him, but he has just taken it over!!! What I was known to be good at, he has taken it over. And very shamelessly. It annoys me. Coz, I sit at my office and I hear people asking him for help in the area. And I think to myself......is he the shameless fool? Or are the people who go to him, the bigger fools!!!
It just annoys me, coz I worked hard to set a place for myself, and then to have a newbie come in and push me aside!!!
It just annoys me!!!

Any insights? tips? advice? anything?

Well that just sucks! Why would they do that? But that's not the question anymore now, is it?
The thing now is if he is good at what he was hired to do, which is your job. Does he do your job as good as you did. Even so, you'll haev to play this one out very politically and diplomatically. You'll have to put up this front that you are there to help him and assist him whenever he has any questions, and then make him feel like you are REALLY there to help him, but basically take it away from him bit by bit. Example: Ppl come to him asking questions, you intervene and show him how to do things faster and how you used to do it making him think you are helping him...you have to become his fallback and then one by one, have those ppl who go to him to ask questions, to come ask you...you could say things to him like "oh don't worry about it, I can take some load off your plate and I'll help you..and basically you finish the said task and notify the person who needs to know, that YOU have completed it.

If this builds up slowly and steadily, you basically get most of his work (originally yours) back again....and then your boss is going to feel like hiring him hasn't helped any coz you are still doing all the work. Gives your boss the impression that "Maybe he can't do it as well as Priti does"...

But you'll have to do something like that. You can't of course, bring up directly to anyone that you don't like him taking your work away, since that displays a negative energy and I don't have to tell you how ppl at work, especially superiors feel about that.

    That's my suggestion.

Also, are you going to be given another task or project that will be your baby....do they have something better lined up for you? And if so, maybe that's why they hired him to take over your work. Possible?

Ok, I should have clarified this too ;)
He hasn't taken over my work or anything. He has just positioned himself into this spot of 'Mr-Know-it-all'. What I taught him, he is now teaching others, very nicely forgetting that it is still my area of expertise!!!
    And it just aggravates me.
I have to learn to let go. Screw it!

Ok, as the general consensus is to take a chill-pill, thats what I am doing ;) To hell with him and his high ways...I just don't care!

Fairies and Candy

A lot of build up for one day, Halloween. I am still a little kid in some ways. I love the Disney Stories. And my favorite character? Tinkerbell :) So, you can guess, the girls were dressed up as Fairies. And I have to say, they looked so darn cute!!!! I will put up some more pictures later.

I bought Simi's costume. D's I put together, with different pieces. And it took a lot of time and effort, but it was all worth it. She tried it on the night before Halloween and absolutely loved it!!! Twirling around in the living room, flapping her wings and dancing like a little fairy. What a sight to see!!!

They had an awesome day. Parade and party at school. Party at my office. I bought them here for the party and they got to go around the offices, getting candy. And then trick or treating in the evening.

The weather was awesome, so it made it even better. I wish I had my video camera to capture the sight of three Power Rangers (neighbors' boys) and my two fairies, running in the night, with buckets overflowing with candy.
*Sniff* I am enjoying these moments, cause they don't last forever.

I have three buckets of candy at home. And my kids are loving it. Well, so are we. I am going to sort out the loot, keep the best at home, and bring the rest to work :)
Sach, Paresh and T, you might still get some when you come in Dec. Thats if anything is left ;)

So, here is my post, finally!!!! See you again after the next holiday....;) Posted by Picasa

:) it's awesome that they had that much fun.

But now lady - we need to talk about your infrequency of posting.

You can't just say I'm doing this and not blog regularly. You have such funtashtic shit to talk about work ;)

I think stories that you tell me would be EXCELLENT blog posts.

The girls look really cute. You got your fairies dressed up really well. And Diya's costume was handmade? WoW.

Paresh - The girls had a great time! And so did I.
    What??? I blog. :)
Ok, good idea, but soon ppl will get bored with reading about work crap!! Then what???

Sachin - Ok, I should have clarified that, I did not make D's costume, I had to get separate pieces. It was a pain, but a lot of fun too. It is sooo nice to have two lil' girls to dress up. Well, until they get to their teens...
