What a weekend!!!
So, mom is in town, along with my 13 year old nephew. They arrived over the weekend. Now, we live about 30 minutes away from the Philly airport and 1.5 hrs away from the Newark airport, but , nooooooooooo. They had to land at JFK (well, ok, they get a better deal flying there, but still!) JFK...I hate the idea of going to JFK, and I had to actually go there. It was horrible. So much traffic. And at one point, we were stuck in traffic, completely stand-still traffic, for one hour!!! Someone had decided that the draw-bridge needed to be opened. Come on people!!! It's a saturday morning. We eventually made it to the airport, picked up mom and nephew, and now the drive back home. Major disaster. So much traffic and it was raining. Where exactly are all these people going on a Saturday morning?
We left home at 7:45am, and got back at 12:15pm. In that time, I could have flown to Dallas!!!
But, it was all worth it :) Having my mom here is just so nice. And mom's cooking....mmmmm yummmy!!! Although, my nephew is bored. 13 is a rough age. Give me ideas to keep him entertained. Took him to library yesterday and he got a book, one book (I have realised that boys are not readers). And two dvds to watch. I have two little girls at home, so my house is filled with dolls, and stuffed toys and dress-up stuff. Nothing for a 13 yr old.
So, people, give me some ideas on how to keep him entertained.

On a mini beak
Had a deadline to meet yesterday. Done! Sooo relieved. A major headache is over. That does not mean I am done, it just means a breather before the next deadline. Lets see, what should I do? I can take a two hour lunch or oh I feel a fever coming :)

17K on that? Angelina does a lot of good but 17K? Thats $ that could go to some place better right?

  • At 12:51 PM, Blogger Tamanna

I agree. Although a part fo me gets why. Our mom's got stuff when we were born. Lil tokens of joy which are now sitting in a locker somewhere. Heck, and if Shiloh's days go bad.. she's still set for college. Maybe the one year that she will attend :D

    karmic_jay,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Makes my day when non-family talks to me :)
Forgot to mention that Shiloh got that pacifier as a gift from some website.

    Tamanna,
Yup, somewhere in some tijori is my baby bangles and little earrings. I could actually use those for my little ones now. Hey, I do have the vest of the outfit I wore on my first birthday :)

  • At 11:33 PM, Blogger Tamanna

Piki, you called me Tamanna.. are you mad at me? You can call me T or kk ;) It's weird when family calls me by my 'good' name and not my nick.

  • At 8:48 AM, Blogger Piki

    K (also known as T),
I thought you would prefer T over K. What the heck is KK??? Hopefully not what I am thinking :)

One lucky baby!!!

So, seen the news on Shiloh Pitt? That little girl is in the spotlight and does not even know about it. She has a 14K gold and diamond studded pacifier worth $17,000. Wow!!! Now, tell me, is she really going to be using that binky? What is the point? I don't even let my kids near my watch, lest they break it. A diamond binky!!!
But, the little thing is not even aware of what is going on around her. She goes about her normal daily business, eating, pooping, sleeping, eating, pooping, sleeping, and on and on. (I am guessing here, but I think I can safely do that, after all I do have two of my own :)
Angelina is one strong spirited woman. The lady does a lot. I am glad to see a celebrity actually use their career to promote a good cause. Good for you, Angelina Jolie. Keep up the good work.

I am alive and kicking
Yes, I have been very quiet. Have been busy with deadlines at work. And it is not over yet.
Changed templates again. Wanted something a little more cleaner and soothing on the eyes. Hey, it works for my eyes :)
Many thanks to my sis and jija, an annoying piece of this template is fixed. I am going to need a few more tips to spice it up.
Other than that, life goes on. My older one is getting more talkative and the younger one is getting more naughty. We had gone to P.F Changs for dinner on Saturday night. And the younger one, who is 18 months, made it known to the whole world, she was there. My kids are such drama queens!!! If I don't listen to the older one while she is talking, she says 'Noone loves me anymore'. Seriously, I do not walk around the house saying these things. If the younger one is holding a fork or something that can hurt her and I take it away....get ready for a major meltdown. And that is exactly what happened at P.F. Changs. I took away the chopsticks and what a scene!!! It was like I took her favorite toy away. This happens for anything and everything. Its her way of saying 'How could you do that!!!' And I had my eye on the dessert menu. No such luck :( Next time, kids stay at home, while the parents go out for a quiet meal.

willing to babysit..:) Send them to Masi and preshJu

  • At 6:19 PM, Blogger Piki

That would be a very very very very expensive dinner. I think a local baby-sitter would be cheaper :) Unless Masi wants to move where we are...hmm thats an idea.

Shhhh....it's a Surprise
Little D made her papa a nice little car wash bucket at school for Father's Day. She had strict instructions that it is a surprise and she cannot say anything. What does she do??? She gets home yesterday and says 'Papa, I made you a surprise for Father's Day, a bucket. But, I cannot tell you what it is." :)
This is like the time she bought her dad socks for Christmas and was told DO NOT SAY A WORD. She gets home and tells her father 'Mama told me not to tell you that you are getting socks for Christmas".
This is what surprise is to a little child. Their little bodies can't hold anything for too long. Tooo cute!!!

BUT
Let's stop to think about this three letter word that can make such a big difference to anything and everything. It can ruin a person's day or brighten it up. Here are some examples:
1. You are so nice, BUT you get on my nerves
2. I love you, BUT you annoy me most of the times
3. I love my job, BUT I hope to find something else
4. You are so annoying, BUT I still love you
5. You did a good job, BUT you could have done better
and on and on and on it goes....
What prompted this post...the following line from my co-worker (who has no fashion sense whatsoever!!!):
1001: You look so pretty in that sky blue kurti, BUT I don't think it fits you well!!!!!
Some people need to polish their manners. Even if they might think you are the best of buddies!

    Gal-mal,

    Someone had to start :)
You should start one, you would be great at it. Just don't go on like you did on the supplements in school :)
Start one, come on. I will be a faithful reader.

Yeaaaaa for shopping
I have been on a shopping spree for the past few weeks now. I have bought everything from car seat snoozers to shoes for myself. I just can't stop shopping. Well, I am sure hubby dear will put a stop to it pretty soon...but until he does..... :) I keep adding stuff to the shopping cart, wait for it to arrive, try it on, don't like it, return it to store, and go back online. Its like an infinite loop. I am loving it!!! I just bought myself 3 pairs of shoes yesterday. Then went to the Gap to get hubby birthday gifts and ended up getting myself something too. Oh, and something for the little ones too. Oh, also went to Bath and Body Works since they are having their awesome sale and stocked up on bath gel, just incase they disappear from the face of the earth :)
BTW, Fatwallet.com is my best friend.

Pet Peeve
I am driving along the road, turn a bend, and BRAKE! There is a moron walking his dog on the road. People, there is a perfectly fine, good condition, sidewalk on the other side of the road. Use the darn sidewalk to run, walk, walk your pets, bike, etc.....Stop using the road like your own private driveway!!!
There!!! got it out of my system. I should start handing out tickets to these morons.

Papa, can I take you to school?
This morning, at 6:45am, following conversation heard between 4 year old and her dad:

Dad: Today is Friday, which means Show & Tell at school. What is the letter of the week?
4 yr. old: 'M'
Dad: Can you think of anything with the letter 'M' that you can take to school?
4 yr. old: How about M&Ms?
Dad: There is no way you are taking candy to school!!!
4 yr. old: Ok, how about Money?
Dad: Do you have any fake money?
4 yr. old: No
Dad: Ok, what else?
4 yr. old: I know! I know! M for MAN!!!!!! You are a Man. Can I take you to school? Please, papa, please!!! Please let me take you to Show & Tell!!!! (all excited now)
Dad: I cannot go to school with you. Think of something else.
4 yr. old: But, you are a Man. You can go to school!!!
Dad: I have to go to work. I cannot go to school with you. I am sure you can think of something else to take.
4 yr. old: (Almost in tears) But come to school for my Show & Tell. You are M for Man!!!
Dad: P, where are you???? (in other words, help me out of this mess)

Mom steps in and convinces 4 yr. old that dad is not going to school. Eventually the 4 yr. old found her stuffed green M&M. And everything was back to normal in the chaotic household. Phew! A mom's job is not an easy job.

    Oh! Children are so adorable..:)
I have a 3 yr old myself and we sure do find it hard to come out difficult situations like these..:)

    Paresh:
Oh, but he did. He said M for Mama. But, D was sulking and in her own misery that she didn't hear him. Plus, he got a smack from me that shut him up very quickly :)

    Sachin:
Yes, I shall never ever forget running through the roads of Dubai, chasing your sorry ass! You still remember the beating you got when I finally got you? Thanks to you, I have some strong legs :)

    Sailaja:
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Yes, kids are just too cute. Their innocence is what blows me away. When you think you have heard it all, wait for your kid to ask the next question :)
